Kip Gamblin made a return to Australian TV last night in the new Channel 9 show Tricky Business. I met Kip in London when I was commissioned to shoot some portraits of him, not long after his arrival in the UK. It was a typical cold and wet London day and we spent the afternoon wandering along the Thames taking photos. Kip was so lovely and as well as being a really talented actor with credits like Home & Away, All Saints, the UK’s Casualty and a role in Baz Lurmans’s Moulin Rouge, Kip is also a formally trained ballet dancer – as you might have guessed from one of the photos below! Not everyone can leap into mid-air splits in jeans and boots by the London Eye you know!
Wishing Kip all the best for the new show….

Dear Mum,
It’s late on Sunday night, Mother’s Day.
This morning, Louis woke me up with ”Happy Mummy Day!” and a cuddle and a kiss, it was the sweetest thing. There are no words to describe that feeling, the feeling I get when he looks into my eyes and talks to me like that. We had plans to go out for lunch, but it’s been really wild weather all day. It’s one of those days where it just blows in across the sea, pelts heavy rain and then clears again to a blue sky. So we decided to just stay at home, have a quiet day and just be together. Jase cooked a roast for dinner, it was delicious.
I was sitting watching TV when I felt you calling. I’m sorry that I have pretended all day that I’m not thinking about you, because I have been….it’s just that….well…I’m trying to be strong.
Happy Mother’s Day gorgeous. Missing you always, loving you still.
Nikki

I met Narelle earlier this year and since that day had been so looking forward to photographing Narelle and Matt’s wedding celebrations. Narelle is one of the most relaxed brides I have ever met, always smiling, never worrying. She’s also a teacher at one of the schools here on the Bellarine and teaches Indonesian, so she has a real connection to Bali and the culture there. When thinking about how to celebrate their wedding day, Narelle and Matt decided on a Balinese inspired celebration at their home and it came together beautifully…the flowers, the food and particularly the balmy weather that bathed their garden in the most beautiful, golden light right through the ceremony.
After they were married, we went from pretty to gritty and headed into town for their photos. Not ones for wanting the beach or golden fields, we decided on an urban style warehouse setting for the photos. Arriving there just as the sun went down, we had a great time taking some shots of the wedding party before jumping back in the limo for the ride home. Oh, we did make a quick stop at Narelle’s mum and dad’s house where their dog Prada was camped for the night. Not wanting Prada to miss out on all of the celebrations, we stopped in to say hi and take a few photos with her before joining the party again.
The night unfolded with some emotional, heartfelt speeches and it was clear to see how important Narelle and Matt’s families are in their life. Strong bonds and supportive love were so evident, it was hard not to shed a tear or two behind the lens (yes I did) when both Narelle and Matt made a speech. And then came the dancing, seriously fun dancing…and at the end of the day, my cheeks ached from smiling so much!
Congratulations Narelle and Matt, thank you so much for choosing me to be part of your day. I wish you both a long and happy life together and hope your photos capture all that you remember and more, of your wonderful day.
